Over the weekend the City of Lubbock dealt with both a blackout and a boil water notice. Now people are asking what went wrong and how can it be prevented in the future. As of Saturday morning, LP&L officials were blaming a faulty lightning arrestor for taking down the power. Power was restored within a couple of hours, but we then learned that because pressure had fallen, Lubbock and other communities that receive water from Lubbock were under a boil water notice. Citizens took to social media to wonder why a city the size of Lubbock would have to deal with a boil water notice.
