On Wednesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Shannon and Corbin Hensler talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about their upcoming event to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

The 4th Annual Cook for the Cure will be taking place this weekend in Slaton, Texas. Shannon and Corbin explained that cooking teams will be competing in various categories such as brisket, ribs, and "outlaw beans," and will be awarded cash prizes in each category. There will also be live music at the cook-off, all-you-can-eat barbecue and a street dance.

Cook for the Cure will kick off Saturday, August 17th, at the Slaton City Park. Live music will start at 10 AM, and BBQ will be served at 4:30 PM. Entry fees are $10 for attending the cook-off and street dance, and $100 for entering the cook-off.

For more information and to sign up for the cook off, visit the Slaton Chamber of Commerce website at slatonchamberofcommerce.org. Entries will also be accepted onsite at the park before the cook-out.
