On Monday's edition of Lubbock's First News, LISD fine arts director Will Burkes talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the district's upcoming Band Extravaganza.

Tomorrow night, LISD will host its 30th annual Band Extravaganza. The event showcases bands from numerous high schools and middle schools in LISD. Burkes explained that the extravaganza not only gives the players an opportunity to prepare for UIL competition, but also gives parents, teachers and the community a chance to recognize and support these students.

In addition to LISD bands, the Westwinds Brass Band and the Goin' Band From Raiderland will also be performing at the event. Burkes also mentioned that, since it is the 30th anniversary, he is encouraging anyone who performed in previous Band Extravaganza to get in touch with their respective band director and make a special appearance at this year's event.

The Band Extravaganza will take place Tuesday, September 24th, starting at 7 PM out at Plains Capital park. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any LISD band member.  Tickets will also be available at the gate for $6.
