Senate Candidate Tom Leppert Wants to Eliminate the Education Department

Rex Andrew, KFYO.com

On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert was asked which cabinet positions would he try to get rid of if he’s elected.

“The first one I would start with is education.  I’ll tell you up front, I am a great proponent of education.  I understand how important education is.  I want everybody to be engaged in education except the federal government.  It needs to be done at the local government.  That’s where the changes can be made.  That’s where you can compete, community versus community so you have the best schools. “

Leppert is seeking the Republican nomination in the race to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison, who is not running for re-election.
