An annual service will be held next week.

The 12th Annual Memorial Day Service, hosted by the Nancy Anderson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, American Legion Post 575, and the City of Lubbock Cemetery, will be held on Monday.

The event will be held on Monday, May 26th at the City of Lubbock Cemetery, located at 2011 East 31st Street, which is two blocks east of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East 31st Street. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.

Howard Mercer will give the main address at the event.

Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts will place small American flags on graves designated with a Veterans Affairs memorial headstone or footstone.

The City of Lubbock estimates that more than 3,000 veterans are buried at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.

The public is invited to attend, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to the ceremony, as seating is limited.
