The World’s Largest Gingerbread House Record is Held in Texas!

Colossal Confectionary Castle
The Guinness World Records website states that, in November 2013, a Texas A&M golf club completed their bold dream of creating the world's largest gingerbread house.
Traditions Golf Club is a private club in Aggieland. It was here where they constructed this 60 ft x 42 ft and 20-foot-tall cookie house comprised of of the following ingredients:
- 1,800 lbs of butter
- 7,200 eggs
- 7,200 lbs of flour
- About 3,000 lbs of brown sugar
There were also 22,304 pieces of candy adorning the walls and entrances, totaling a whopping 35,823,400 calories!
The construction of this gingerbread house did indeed have a wooden frame and some wooden supports, but the entirety of the outside and interior was layered with gingerbread and candy.
At 39,202 cubic feet, this house broke the previous record from the Mall of America in Minnesota at a mere 36,600 cubit feet.
Also, the General Manager of the club at the time, Bill Horton, said that the house had full electricity and did need to be permitted by the city of Bryan.
Gingerbread for Charity
There was an entry fee for all visitors: $3 for adults, $2 for children, and the Traditions Club planned on raising $200,000 for a new trauma center at St. Joseph Health System.
Just one final remark here. If you didn't know, bees LOVE sugar... The Traditions Club actually had to call bee keepers to corral the nearly 2,000 bees that were enticed by the sugary goodness.
