Angler Lands World Record Catch With This Monster Fish In A Texas Lake
Just about any day you get to go fishing is a good day. It can be even a better day when that fishing turns into a world record day.
And for angler Art Weston, April 9th was a record day, and this is for someone who is use to setting records.
While fishing at Lake Livingston with his guide Captain Kirk Kirkland earlier this month aboard the "Garship Enterprise", Weston caught a monster of a fish according to Chron.com. The fish was the "most challenging catch" of his life Weston said.
Record Setting Freshwater Fish Caught in Texas
According to Chron.com, Weston was able to haul in what will soon be certified as the largest freshwater fish in the world caught on ultra-light tackle. According to a Facebook post by Weston, the ordeal to reel in the fish took 4 hours. So what type of fish did he catch? An alligator gar... a really big alligator gar.
The alligator gar that Art Weston caught on April 9th measured 7 feet and 3 inches long and weighed in at 153 pounds. Once certified, the gar will set a new International Game Fish Association world record. It's Weston's 81st world record.
Chron.com reports that Weston holds ever available Men's Line Class World Record for alligator gar. Impressive.
As someone who will be fishing this weekend, I must say that I'm impressed, but instead of a good size gar, I'll settle for good bass.
