More details on a suspected murder case, from December 20th, in Lubbock have been revealed. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office was dispatched on reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle to County Road 2300, where the body of Monica Lumbrera was discovered.
KAMC news reported that Lumbrera was not hit by a vehicle but instead had been shot at that location. On her body investigators discovered a motel room key, to the Executive Inn in Lubbock on Avenue Q along with her phone. Pictures of a 24-year-old Isaiah Sanchez were discovered on the phone and a gun can be seen in Sanchez' waistband. Investigators were able to get video surveillance footage from the Executive Inn and could see Sanchez, Lumbrera, and another woman at the property and eventually leaving.
Police found the other woman and she told investigators that she was the one who drove the pair outside the city limits to where Lumbrera's body was eventually found. The witness did tell police that Sanchez was angry with another witness coming forward to tell police that Sanchez verbally abused Lumbrera before hitting her in the head. The new witness, that saw the abuse, did say that Sanchez had spoke about being "jumped" at another motel due to the victim before showing off his gun with a laser on it.
A total of three witnesses were interviewed by investigators and their stories did align which led to the arrest of Isaiah Sanchez. As per the publishing of this article Isaiah Sanchez is currently being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
