Will Any Part of Texas Have a White Christmas? Here’s What The Chances Are Looking Like
We are about a week out from Christmas and if you were to step outside today, you wouldn't really think it felt a lot like winter. Temperatures across Texas are warmer than normal right now, but what about next week? Will any parts of the Lone Star State see a White Christmas?
When it comes to snow and Christmas, unless you are on vacation somewhere where you expected snow or you are a kid, you probably aren't rooting for snow on Christmas day. Especially if you have to drive anywhere. But a White Christmas is something a lot people at least think they want. So what are the chances of snow on Christmas day? Well, not very good.
The Last White Christmas in Texas
The last time any portions of Texas had a White Christmas was in 2012. Portions of the Panhandle, along with North Central Texas did get measurable snow and it made travel a headache for those in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
In Lubbock, the last White Christmas was back in 2011 an inch of snow fell on the ground. On Christmas Eve Lubbock got about 2 inches of snow.
The further south you go in Texas, the less likely it is that you will see snow.
But what about in 2024?
Will Any Part of Texas Have A White Christmas in 2024?
You might as well keep dreaming of a White Christmas for Texas, because the chances of seeing one this year are, pretty unlikely. At least according to the forecasts from the National Weather Service. In fact, most of the country appears as though it will be dry with above average temperatures. You'd have to far up north or into the mountains to see snow this Christmas it looks like.
But that doesn't mean we won't see snow in the Winter of 2025. It could still happen.
