This week the talented Wendy Colonna will be taking the stage at the Buddy Holly Summer Showcase to sooth out our summers and make us forget about $3 gas. Wendy happens to hail from the gulf coast of Louisiana but currently lives with her husband, mother, two step-children and new baby boy in San Marcos. Wendy's songs are said to echo soulful tales of joy with a grit-infused-honey voice that is noticeable and familiar in her music. Wendy's last single was back in 2017 with the release of "No Moment But Now" which was featured on Apple Music's "Hot Tracks" and "Breaking Singer Songwriter" playlists as well as Spotify's "Fresh Folk" playlist.

I did have to give Wendy's music a listen to see where it could transport me mentally, it was a fun time. Wendy's voice took me to two different places with the first being The Spoon drinking with friends and sharing pizza while people talked over each other. The second place Wendy's music transported me to was a campfire with friends roasting hot dogs just when summer and fall meet so the night air is chilly but a warm breeze from the hot summer day still lingers.

You can definitely feel some deep Louisiana influences in Wendy's music, such as the song "I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now". Which made fireflies appear in my mind with how much soul she put into this song and all the songs under her belt. I was left craving a Coca-Cola after my Colonna jam session, and it's no surprise, because Wendy has also written and produced award-winning songs for different advertisements including Coca-Cola.

Wendy Colonna will play from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 4th, 2022 at the Buddy Holly Summer Showcase located in the Meadows Courtyard at the Buddy Holly Center Admission is free to the public. Outside food and beverages, chairs, picnic blankets and pets are not allowed.

More information on future tour dates and performances can be found on Wendy's official website, Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram. Wendy's music can also be found on YouTube and Spotify for more of those sweet 'end of summer' soulful vibes.
