
Verbal Argument Leads to Shooting Death of 27-Year-Old Lubbock Man

The Lubbock Police Department has made an arrest in connection to a shooting that occurred on Friday, November 5th, 2021 in Central Lubbock.
Officers were called to the 4600 block of 50th Street, at 4:53 p.m. for reports of shots fired.
An investigation revealed that a verbal argument between 27-year-old Christopher Guerra and his ex-girlfriend happened outside of the apartment. During the altercation, 20-year-old Ryan Christopher Menegay came out of the apartment with a .22 caliber rifle. Menegay attempted to hit Guerra with the butt of the rifle but missed, then fired a shot at Guerra.
When officers arrived, Guerra was found with a gunshot wound. Guerra was taken to University Medical Center where he later died.
A warrant was issued Friday evening for Menegay's arrest, and he was taken into custody Saturday around 11 a.m. without incident.
An investigation is ongoing.
