Do any convicted sex offenders live on your street? What about your neighborhood? You might just be surprised to learn the answer.

It's a question that some homeowners have asked about their own street or even a neighborhood they are considering moving to in the future, even more-so if they are parents. And this time of year with kids getting ready to go trick or treating, there might be some parents who would like to know if anyone on their street is a convicted sex offender.

Of course it should also be noted that convicted sex are not allowed to hand out candy by law in Texas.

Still, there is no doubt that concerned citizens want to know information about where convicted sex offenders live. There are several different resources out there that help provide information about sex offenders and where you live. One such site is FamilyWatchdog.us where you can go and put in your address and see if any convicted sex offenders live in the area. This map also shows where schools are located on the map along with the convicted offender.

Another interactive map that is also easy to use comes from City-Data.com.

According to this map, there are close to 600 convicted sex offenders living in and around Lubbock. You can scroll in on the map and search your own neighborhood and street.

You can visit the map from City-Data here and even look up other cities across Texas. The map shows pinpoints where a sex offender lives. When you click on the blue pinpoint it shows you the sex offender's name and other information. That information includes the risk level to the community. You can visit Family Watchdog here and it works roughly the same way. Both are great tools to have for families.

Another map you can look at is published by Texas DPS.
