UMC First to Offer Antibody Testing for First Responders

On Thursday, May 7th UMC will begin offering free antibody testing to area first responders, which provides an opportunity to determine if they have been exposed to coronavirus.

Antibody tests help determine if someone has been infected and recovered from COVID-19, while molecular tests typically identify if a person is currently infected.

These antibody tests should help determine what percentage of the healthcare and first responder populations have been exposed to COVID-19.

Early antibody test results for UMC personnel show that the personal protective equipment worn by providers has been effective in preventing the spread of coronavirus.
