Two former employees at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport have been arrested after being accused of stealing over $2 million in checks from the mail.

KAMC News reports that Joe Roy Rivas III and Jessica Lynn Solomon were indicted for Possession of Stolen Mail and Conspiracy to Possess Stolen Mail. The former Cargo Force, Inc. employees were said to have stolen the $2.3 million dollars over the course of 2 days.

Cargo Force is a company that contracts with the United States Postal Service. This includes loading and unloading mail for flights in and out of the airport. As Cargo Force employees, Rivas and Solomon had direct access to the mail.

Court documents say that the 2 looked through the mail to find valuable items including gift cards, checks, money orders and cash.

Specifically, on February 25th and 26th, it's said that the 2 stole a total of 8 checks that totaled to a bit over $2.3 million. One of the checks by itself was for $2 million to Pershing, LLC. The second largest check was $241,863 to Sodexo Inc. & Affiliates.
