UPDATED 5:15 p.m., 5/14/19: A suspect has been arrested in connection to the two Metro PCS robberies that occurred in Lubbock Tuesday morning.

Detectives with the LPD Person Crimes Division spotted a vehicle that matched the description provided by the victims in a parking lot in the 5700 block of 4th at around 2:25 p.m. Tuesday. Police set up surveillance and waited for someone to arrive.

Thirty-two-year-old Byron Jermor Whitfield got in the vehicle and drove away, and later detectives stopped the vehicle.

Items that were taken in one of the robberies were located in the vehicle, and Whitfield was arrested and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Original story: Two Metro PCS locations in Lubbock were robbed on Tuesday Morning.

According to KAMC News, the location at 4921 34th Street was robbed at roughly 10:06 a.m. The second robbery occurred at the 7400 S. University Avenue location at around 11:07 a.m.

Both robberies were conducted by a suspect described as a black man wearing a grey hoodie, ski mask, blue jeans and black gloves, leading police to believe the same suspect committed both robberies.
