A Texas Tech baseball team member has been named as one of the top college players in the nation.

Junior center fielder Barrett Barnes has been named the No. 72 Major League Baseball Draft Prospect. This ranking comes from the publication Baseball America, in a list of their Top 100 College Players list, regarding the 2012 MLB draft.

Barnes and six other Big 12 Conference players were named to the list, which also includes Texas A&M RHP Michael Wacha, ranked 9th, Texas LHP Sam Stafford, and Oklahoma RHP Jon Gray.

Barnes, who was named the 2010 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, is ranked second in the Big 12 with 41 walks, and is tied for third in home runs. He has played in 114 games with 114 starts, has a .316 batting average, 118 runs, 34 doubles, 24 home runs, 91 RBIs, and 81 walks.
