Monday during The Chad Hasty Show Hasty talked about the media uproar surrounding President Elect Donald J. Trump's receiving a congratulatory phone call from the president of Taiwan.

The call upset China, which almost immediately filed a diplomatic protest. China still considers Taiwan to be part of it's own nation, rather than an independent country.

The media is treating the call as a huge diplomatic mistake, as if Trump had no idea what he was doing receiving such a call.

Chad Hasty maintains that it signals a change in the relationship between the U.S. and China, with the U.S. no longer bowing down to China's whim and trying to appease at every turn.

Hasty said,

He knew what he was doing. Donald Trump is going to take a hard-line with China. And it'll be interesting to see if China pushes back, if China wants to do a trade-war, if Chaina wants to, it's going to be interesting.

Normally you have the U.S. president sort of, or at least what we've had the last eight years, I think it's easy to say, that you've had the President bow to China. And Donald Trump is going to take a more hard-line approach to it. Which I don't think is a bad thing. China certainly has taken a hard-line approach to the United States.
