Friday on Lubbock's First News, Ambassador of Ethiopia Tibor Nagy, Jr., spoke about the life and transformation of Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela passed away Thursday, December 5, prompting many to reflect on his inspirational work. Nagy reminded listeners that Mandela was originally a radical activist in South Africa. Nagy discussed the historical context of the difficulties in South Africa during the events leading up to and including Mandela's work. Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years, but offered transformed views when he was released. Nagy noted that Mandela worked toward "a true multiracial country and he was honest. He was thinking of his country, he was thinking of his people, not of himself."
