This Texan Was Kidnapped Overseas And Has Been Missing For More Than 10 Years
Meet Austin Bennett Tice. A Texan who is a freelance journalist and photographer. He also vanished more than 10 years ago. While he disappeared more than 10 years ago, that isn't stopping the FBI from continuing to search for him.
According to the FBI, Austin Tice was kidnapped on or around August 13, 2012 near Darraya, Syria. Darraya is a suburb of Damascus. The FBI says that Tice was in Syria working as a freelance journalist and photographer for many news organizations.
Two years ago the FBI recognized the 10-year anniversary of Tice's kidnapping. In a press release, FBI Director Christopher said this.
“This year we recognize the 10-year anniversary of the disappearance of Austin Tice and it is time to renew our public call for information that could lead to his whereabouts,” said FBI Director, Christopher Wray. “Additionally, this week marks Austin’s 41st birthday. For 10 years, dedicated FBI personnel have been working tirelessly to return him to his family. The FBI will continue to work with our government partners to bring Austin home and seek answers for his family.”
The FBI is offer a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the safe location and recovery of Austin Tice. The FBI encourages anyone with information to reach out to the FBI or US Embassy.
