Monday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, Director of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra David Cho joined Dave and Matt to talk about the upcoming show they have on Saturday, March 27th, how they take care of their new pianos, the symphony preparing for its 75th anniversary and more.

The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra has several shows coming up in the next several months, and the first one is what the symphony is calling "Video Games Live," which is part of their Spring Pops series.

The concert will take place on March 27th, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., and will feature many great video game songs from across the decades going all the way back to Atari music, and will be accompanied by videos being projected onto a 30x18-foot screen.

Cho said that people will be able to reminisce on many classic video game songs and experience them like never before, as "nothing replaces the bravado of the real human wrist on violin."

The concert will take place at the Buddy Holly Hall, which Cho bragged on. "It's breathtaking, truly. And I hope it will transform downtown Lubbock," he said.

Cho went on to talk about the great acoustics in the hall, as well as the 5-star restaurant that you can have lunch and dinner at Tuesday through Saturday, even when there's no show taking place. Cho reminded everyone that tickets are limited to only 1,100 as they will be half house due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can get tickets by visiting lubbocksymphony.org, or by calling 762-1688.

Cho also talked about the announcement of his extended contract with the symphony, which means that he will continue to perform in Lubbock.

"It is truly an honor to serve this great organization," Cho said, adding that he's learned so much from musicians here in Lubbock and the great talent who's visited. Cho said he's been happy to be able to perform at events such as their Halloween concert, or when they performed for 5,000 5th graders.
