The Texas Tech University System has officially named a new Chancellor. Texas State Senator Brand Creighton was appointed Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer on Tuesday, September 30 during a special-called meeting of the Board of Regents.

According to KAMC, the official announcement comes after a 21-day waiting period. He was named the sole finalist by the Texas Tech Board of Regents on September 4.

“The Texas Tech University System will set the national standard for higher education, and it will be an honor to join the system family and to lead the charge as the next Chancellor,” said Creighton. “With the confidence of the Board of Regents and the strength of our faculty, staff, and students, we will expand opportunities, pioneer new innovations, and ensure the TTU System continues to exemplify the best of what drives Texas and the nation forward.”

Dr. Tedd Mitchell To Transition To New Role In November

Chancellor Mitchell will transition into a new role on November 19 according to KAMC. On November 19th, Mitchell will transition into an advisory role as chancellor emeritus and president emeritus of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, continuing to support the TTU System. Until then, chancellor-elect Creighton will work with Mitchell on a smooth transition.
