Texas Tech Holds Ceremony to Honor Purple Heart Veterans

Texas Tech will be hosting a ceremony to honor those of the Armed Forces who have received a Purple Heart.

Monday, August 7^th is National Purple Heart Day. The Purple Heart is awarded to any member of the Armed Forces who has been wounded or killed. There are more than 70 Purple Heart recipients in the Lubbock area, including several students of Texas Tech. In fact, Tech University was the first Purple Heart University in Texas.

A ceremony celebrating these heroes and their families will be held Monday, August 7^th at 9:00am at Memorial Circle on the Tech campus.
