Texas Tech has named the search committee charged with assisting in selecting the university’s next chancellor.

On Wednesday, the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents selected the search committee, which is comprised of four members of the Board of Regents.

Search committee members include committee chairman Larry Anders, Debbie Montford, Nancy Neal, and John Walker.

The committee will help identify potential candidates, assist with initial screenings, and make recommendations to the full Board of Regents, who will make the final decision.

The search committee will also select a search consultant to assist in the search as well.

“The Texas Tech University System is a dynamic force in higher education, and we are looking for a leader who will build upon our current progress,” said Mickey Long, chairman of the Board of Regents. “I am confident they will help identify top candidates to be the next leader of our system of universities.”

Texas Tech Chancellor Kent Hance, the third person to hold the position, announced plans to retire from the position in 2014. Hance will become chancellor emeritus of the TTU System and will continue to serve in a teaching and advisory role.
