Texas Senators Perry And Bettencourt On Rising Property Taxes [INTERVIEW]
Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, two Texas Senators joined the show to talk about the serious problem of rapidly rising property taxes.
Senator Charles Perry from West Texas District 28, and Senator Paul Bettencourt from Houston's District 7 provided details on the disproportionate levels of personal income versus property taxes, and discussed the conferences they are hosting in the state.
Speaking about state-wide percentages of income as opposed to tax increase, Bettencourt said, "Over the last nine years, property taxes have gone up 70 percent, but median household income has only gone up 26 percent.' Bettencourt continued with numbers for the Lubbock area, saying,
Every year property taxes is rising three times faster than the average family income. And that's putting the squeeze on homeowners, and of course business owners.
