For most avid readers, especially those from the Lone Star State, this probably won't come as a surprise: Texas readers love the Larry McMurtry's 'Lonesome Dove' book series.

An interesting article at Arts.Mic has a map with the most popular book sets voted on by readers in their home states. Some of the titles might be surprising, but many were not. The article details some of the books and authors, and it's not hard to figure out why some states prefer certain books.

The representative fiction book for each state was chosen using figures from Goodreads scores for series with over 50,000 ratings.

Steven King has two books on the list; The Stand, which was the favorite in Idaho, Vermont, Colorado and Arkansas, and 11/22/63 which was the favorite in Maine (which is not surprising since King hails from Maine).

I've previously written about the epic Lonesome Dove book series authored by the unusual, and some say, odd, McMurtry, who is a native Texan and Archer City resident. All four books come highly recommended from my experience. As a matter of fact, I've been waiting for a while now to start reading them again, and plan to do so before too long.
