Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Ted Cruz applauded the announcement on Friday that a mass vaccination clinic would be set-up for Border Patrol Agents in the Rio Grande Valley.

The move to set-up the clinic comes days after Texas Governor Greg Abbott went to the border and seemed visibly upset at what he saw and learned. One thing he learned was the border patrol agents were not being given the COVID-19 vaccine. According to KAMC, Abbott said the clinic would be held next week.

“These agents risk their lives every day on the front lines of our nation, and they deserve the same level of commitment from those they serve. We look forward to the Biden Administration following through and fully vaccinating each and every Border Patrol agent in Texas,” said Abbott.

The release from the governor only read the clinic will be held “next week,” no other details have been provided at this time.

United States Senator Ted Cruz also responded to the news of the vaccine clinic saying that it was time that the Biden administration right this wrong.

“The worsening crisis at the border is exacerbated by the Biden administration’s radical open border policies while leaving the hard-working men and women of the United States Border Patrol vulnerable to coronavirus. Allowing these agents, who are true first responders and on the front lines in protecting our national security, access to the coronavirus vaccine is long overdue. I am pleased steps have been taken to right this wrong.”

The crisis along the border has been focused on this week by Republicans to highlight the dysfunction within the Biden Administration.
