A man has been charged with the murder and beheading of his victim with a machete at a motel in Central Texas.

A Brutal Murder in Texas

On Wednesday, September 10, police officers in Dallas responded to a call of someone being stabbed at the Downtown Suites motel around 9:30 in the morning, according to reports from WFAA. When cops arrived, they found the body of a man missing his head on the motel property.

Officers also discovered a Cuban national, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, near the scene of the crime, carrying a machete and covered in blood. He later admitted to using the weapon to kill and behead Chandra Nagamallaiah, 50.

Events Leading Up to the Texas Beheading

Cobos-Martinez was interviewed by police after he was taken into custody. He later shared that the two had gotten into an argument before he pulled out a machete and began slashing at Nagamallaiah until he decapitated him.

A witness to the horrific event stated that both she and Cobos-Martinez were in a motel room cleaning when Nagamallaiah entered and spoke with the witness to translate that they shouldn't use the broken washing machine.

Cobos-Martinez grew upset with the victim after he allegedly refused to speak directly to him, instead using the witness as a translator.

At one point, Cobos-Martinez briefly left the motel room before returning, armed with a machete. He then began attacking Nagamallaiah who attempted to flee from the assault.

Nagamallaiah ran out of the room and attempted to seek safety at the front office, but fell on his way. Cobos-Martinez then continued to slash and stab, pausing briefly to take what was in his victim's pockets before beheading him.

He reportedly then kicked the decapitated head of Nagamallaiah into the motel parking lot before picking it up and placing it in a dumpster, NBC DFW provided.

This attack happened as Cobos-Martinez fought off Nagamallaiah's wife and son after they attempted to intervene.

Texas Murder Suspect Arrested

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez was charged with the capital murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah on Wednesday and was sent to the Dallas County jail to await trial.

This was not Cobos-Martinez's first run-in with the law, as he has been charged with several crimes in the past including attempting to carjack a 22-year-old woman's car while naked.
