What’s Liquid Meth? This Texas Border City Knows All About It
Border officers recently seized over $10 million of liquid methamphetamine at a Texas port of entry, but what makes the liquid form of this highly addictive drug so special?
Texas Border Patrol Meth Bust
According to a press release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), officers stopped a 46-year-old Mexican citizen on April 20 for secondary inspection at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry. The woman's vehicle, a 2000 Dodge pickup, was discovered to be holding about 1,149 pounds of liquid meth in the fuel tank.
The narcotics had an estimated street value of roughly $10,562,230.
The woman was arrested by Homeland Security, and her vehicle was seized by border agents.
Eagle Pass Port Director Pete Beattie stated the importance of keeping these shipments off of American soil.
Seizures like these illustrate perfectly CBP's ongoing commitment to upholding CBP's border security mission and protecting our communities.
What is Liquid Meth?
Illegal methamphetamine is a stimulant, meaning it overcharges dopamine levels to an unnatural level. In it's "natural" state after manufacturing, it's actually a powder which is often snorted. But, there are other forms that meth can take, such as pills, rocks (crystal meth), or liquid meth.
Liquid meth is apparently easy to achieve since the powder dissolves quickly in water. If you were wondering, yes, people do drink meth, though it's not a common form of ingesting the drug.
Injecting liquid meth through a needle is also an option. This will create a faster high, however, since you are shooting it straight into your bloodstream.
Other downsides besides, you know, the fact that it's meth... include burns and risk of overdose.
Liquid meth is comprised of a number of substances that can cause chemical burns if not handled properly. Also, it's nearly impossible to see how much of the drug is mixed into water, if ingesting it orally. This means that the risk of overdose is higher, since you can't portion each dose effectively.
