Texas State Representative Chris Turner, who is also the Chair of the Texas House Democratic Caucus, called on the Texas Legislature to investigate Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Turner took to Twitter to release his full statement.

Turner wants the Texas Legislature to investigate Paxton's involvement in "egging on" the crowd of rioters at the United States Capitol on Wednesday.

“Paxton has played a major role in creating the national crisis that culminated with the first breach of our nation’s capital since the War of 1812,” said Turner. “Paxton’s actions would be shameful for any elected official, but are especially so for the top law enforcement officer of the state. Even today, Paxton has used social media to spread lies about yesterday’s acts of violence and insurrection.”

Representative Turner also said in his press release that the legislature must "hold this out-of-control Attorney General accountable." And that "everything needs to be on the table because Ken Paxton has abused his power in an effort to subvert the will of the American people".

Paxton has been very involved in President Donald Trump's attempts at reversing the results of the 2020 election. Paxton led a lawsuit seeking to overturn the election results in four states. That case was dismissed by the United States Supreme Court.

Texas Democrats have also called for Senator Ted Cruz to resign because of his objections to the electoral college results.
