A fall 2014 promotion raised a reported $13,000 for Texas-based food banks ranging from Amarillo to Dallas and Fort Worth.

The United Family of Supermarkets partnered with Frito-Lay in a promotion where 50 cents was donated for every purchase of to XXL bags of Frito-Lay brand chips. The customers would also receive a free Frito-Lay dip, said United.

South Plains Food Bank in Lubbock, West Texas Food Bank in Odessa and Abilene’s Food Bank of West Central Texas all received $2,000, according to the United Family.

The United Family’s Chief Operating Officer Chris James said, “Through our partnership with FRITO-LAY, and with the help of our guests, we are happy to help support the food banks in the communities we serve. These organizations play a pivotal role in eradicating hunger and impacting the lives of area families in need.”

United said in a press release the two companies will partner again for the Feed the Troops campaign in May.
