Texas officials are warning citizens to keep an eye out for viral TikTok trends that pose a risk to themselves or others. This comes after a Texas county was recently the site of dangerous pranks involving damages to personal properties.

Ding-Dong Ditch this Dangerous Trend

In an advisory posted by the Chambers County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), they warn residents of the "door-kick-challenge" that is emerging on the popular social media site TikTok.

This prank has seen a recent spike in Chambers County where individuals will film themselves, normally with a partner, kicking on the doors of residential properties before running away.

CCSO stated, in a Facebook post, that the trend "is not only disruptive--it can lead to serious legal consequences and potential danger for those involved."

The problem with doing this to strangers--especially in Texas--is that you never know who will choose to retaliate when they hear their door being kicked and think it's an attempted burglary.

The advisory also urges all parents of teenagers or young kids to speak with their children and explain the dangers of this popular prank that's trending on social media sites.

It's also recommended that all residents report any suspicious activity that they notice in their neighborhood to local law enforcement in order to avoid any unwanted and/or life-threatening conflicts.
