The investigation was being conducted into Shire Pharmaceuticals LLC for unlawfully promoting Adderrall XR, Vyvanse, Daytrona, Lialda and Pentasa. Texas will receive $4.78 million from the settlement.

According to the attorney general’s office, Shire violated state consumer protection laws by misrepresenting the uses and qualities of its intestinal inflammation drugs.

The National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Unit conducted the investigation and subsequent settlement and included state attorney generals from California, Indiana, Michigan and New York.
