The Texas Attorney General's Office is leading an investigation into a staff walkout that happened at a Littlefield nursing home.

It all began on Sunday, January 2nd after a caller told police that there was no one at the facility to take care of their relative. An officer eventually arrived at the Arbor Grace Wellness Center, located at 1241 Marshall Howard Boulevard, and spoke to a volunteer doctor.

The volunteer doctor told the officer about an apparent walkout, mentioning that one of the certified nurse's assistants had been there since the night before, having never left her post. The volunteer doctor said that others were trying to contact Arbor Grace management to have people come help, and that he was trying to find staff to assist the ones that stayed.

KAMC News reports that the officer walked around the facility to better understand what was happening and saw three residents in wheelchairs near the front stations. However, the officer didn't note any signs of mistreatment, even though many of the employees said that they didn't have the qualifications to do certain tasks.

The Texas Attorney General's Office said in a statement that they had received allegations about staffing issues at the facility and that they were actively working to assess the facility's compliance with all relevant state rules and requirements.
