Ted Cruz To Meet With West Texas Law Enforcement And Agriculture Producers
Senator Ted Cruz will be in the Texas Panhandle and in West Texas on Thursday of this week. Cruz will be spending the end of the August recess in our area talking with agriculture producers, leaders in the cattle industry, along with local energy industry leaders in Amarillo on Thursday morning.
On Thursday afternoon, Senator Ted Cruz will travel to Lubbock to hold a roundtable discussion with area law enforcement officials. One topic that is sure to come up on Friday is crime in West Texas and how drugs are flowing into the area through the border. Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe has previously discussed the drug problem in West Texas and in Lubbock County and has stated in the past that drug cartels are operating in the area and that the lack of real border security adds to the rising crime and drug abuse we see in the area.
According to a press release from his office, members of the media will have a chance to ask Senator Cruz questions. Cruz has been outspoken recently against the Biden administration and how President Joe Biden has handled the situation in Afghanistan. Yesterday, Cruz issued a press release calling on the President to make it clear to the Taliban that the United States and the United States military will not be ordered around by the Taliban. Cruz has also pressed the administration to make sure all United States citizens are brought back from Afghanistan even if that means going past the August 31st deadline. Reports indicate that there are thousands of Americans still in Afghanistan.
