Police Arrest Suspect for Stabbing & Shooting Man at Lubbock Apartment Complex
Twenty-year-old Jose Villegas in now in custody and charged with aggravated robbery in connection to the shooting and stabbing at Peppertree Inn Apartments.
At around 8 p.m. last Friday night (Oct. 20), Lubbock Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at Peppertree Inn, located in the 5300 block of 11th Street. Officers located 33-year-old Jesus Montez in the parking lot with gunshot and stab wounds. Montez was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Initial information indicated the victim got into an altercation with a suspect, and at some point he was stabbed and shot. Through the investigation, detectives with the LPD Person Crimes Unit were able to identify Villegas as a suspect, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on Wednesday.
At about 11:30 a.m. Friday (October 27th), US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force Foxtrot and LPD Special Operations investigators took Villegas into custody at the Landing at Pinewood Park Apartments, located at 502 Slide Road.
