Two staff members at an area organization dedicated to feeding those that need it have been honored for their culinary achievements.

The American Culinary Federation’s Texas Chapter-Texas Panhandle Chef de Cuisine announced their annual chapter award winners, and included two South Plains Food Bank employees.

South Plains Food Bank’s Childhood Nutrition Programs Director/Kids Café Executive Chef Tammy Hester has been announced as this year’s Chef of the Year.

SPFB Kids Café Assistant Sous Chef Cory Torres also received the Rookie of the Year award.

“Both Tammy and Cory, along with the rest of our Kids Café staff, work diligently to provide wonderful free, hot, nutritious meals for children after school and throughout the summer,” said SPFB Chief Executive Officer David Weaver. “I’m glad they were acknowledged so highly by a group of their peers within the local ACF chapter.”
