If you’re one of the people who have found themselves on the beach, out on the boat, or lounging by the pool without enough power to run your handheld electronic devices, someone out there is considering your iNeeds.

Brooklyn designer Andrew Schneider is currently selling the iKini, a creation he first made the world aware of in 2006. Schneider’s solar powered bikini features four USB ports capable of charging your iPod, iPhone, or whatever small electronic device one may care to carry with them in an area where scantily clad garb is acceptable (or not, depending on the person).

Schneider lovingly pieces each iKini together by hand out of 40 photovoltaic strips, and the cost for each ranges between $500 and $1,500. A custom-ordered iKini can take Schneider up to 80 hours to make. Currently, only special orders are being taken, and no word has been released on mass production of the non-shocking swimwear.

Wearers can even get into the water while cell-clad, though it would not be a good idea to dunk into the drink without removing one’s electronic auditory apparati and assorted other gizmos. The suit, which can provide 5 volts to charge your iTems, will reportedly not work until completely dry.

Schneider is already hard at work developing men’s swim trunks designed to keep drinks cold, dubbed the “iDrink.”
