Monday on Lubbock's First News, Casey Jones, an agriculture teacher at Slaton High School, gave the details of a fundraiser that will benefit the South Plains Food Bank.

Tuesday, October 22,  Slaton Future Farmers of America (FFA) will team up with Chic-Fil-A to raise money for the South Plains Food Bank. The fundraiser is part of the Texas Ag Farm Credit to "Drive the Hunger Out of Texas." It will take place at the Chic-Fil-A on Slide Road. The Slaton FFA will hold a spirit day from 6:30 am until the store is closed, at that the same location. The public can contribute to this fundraiser by saying "Slaton FFA" when making a purchase. 20% of each purchase will go to that chapter, which will then be donated to the Food Bank.

Jones said, "many chapters around the state are participating in this," increasing competition among them to raise more. The FFA chapter with the most money raised, per member, will receive a small John Deer tractor.
