Six Flags Over Texas Announces New Coaster, Retires Two Rides
Six Flags Over Texas is clearing the way for a new record-breaking roller coaster set to hit Arlington in 2026.
Have to Break a Few Eggs
Unfortunately, in order to allow the necessary expansion of the park for the new ride, two beloved existing coasters will be officially retired.
La Vibora, a ride that first opened in 1986, and El Diablo: The removal of these allow the park to explore a new generation of rides within the Spain section of Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington.
According to WFAA, Six Flags Over Texas President Richard Douaihy acknowledged any sadness felt towards the loss. "We understand that saying goodbye to beloved rides can be difficult, and we appreciate guests' passion," but that "these changes are an important part of our growth and dedication to delivering exceptional new experiences."
Details on this mysterious new coaster that has shaken so much within the park have yet to be revealed. It's said that the public will know more by next summer. All we know is that it was be a "record-breaking dive roller coaster," according to Dallas Culture Map.
This announcement comes nearly a year after Arlington's newest coaster, Aquaman: Power Wave, was installed. New renovations to El Rio Lento were also teased in 2023, but updates have yet to be provided from the company.
Six Flags Merger
News of a new "record-breaking" coaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington follows the company's merger with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company back in July.
Following the merger, Six Flags now operates a total of 27 amusement parts, 15 water parks and nine resorts spanning the U.S., Canada and Mexico, according to WFAA.
