Single-Vehicle Crash in Southwest Lubbock Leaves One Man Dead
Local law enforcement was on the scene of a serious accident Monday morning (Jan. 15) in the 5400 block of 87th Street in Southwest Lubbock.
The Lubbock Police Department said that at around 1:40 a.m. they responded to a single-vehicle crash involving an SUV. The SUV had reportedly crashed into a tree. The driver, 37-year-old John Campbell, was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators say that Campbell was traveling eastbound on 87th Street at high speed and veered off the roadway into a brick mailbox and then a tree.
No other injuries have been reported.
