UPDATE: Two men have been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting that occurred Wednesday in the 1500 block of 37th Street.

Forty-one-year-old Jimmy Hernandez Rodriguez is the man police say was shot around 4 p.m. and later died from his injuries at the hospital.

An initial investigation revealed that a potential suspect in the shooting was driving a gold SUV. Police soon discovered that an SUV matching that description had been reported stolen from the 1900 block of East 1st Place.

Just an hour after the shooting, police located that stolen SUV in the 4600 block of I-27 and arrested the driver, 22-year-old Miguel Garza.

An additional suspect, 19-year-old Anthony Alvarez, was also arrested. Both men are now in the Lubbock County Jail.

While the motive in the shooting remains is still uncertain, police say that they at least know that Garza knew the victim.
