Save the date! Raider Red Meats is hosting their annual BBQ & Ribeye Championship and Raider Rumble on August 23rd & 24th.

The Raider Rumble will be on Friday, August 23rd, starting at 6 P.M. and is a head-to-head steak cook-off competition, similar to the format of the TV Show cooking competition, 'Chopped'. The competition will feature four competitors in a winner take all contest at the Animal & Food Science Livestock Arena on the Texas Tech Campus.

Then on Saturday the real fun begins at 10 A.M. with a Free BBQ Demo & Tasting in the Gordon W. Davis Meat Lab. The demonstration will feature The Bent Nail BBQ owner, Jordan Allen, along with Texas Tech Meat Science faculty and students. Raider Red Meats staff will also be on hand and you can enjoy a BBQ buffet style lunch after the demonstration for $15 per person since the event is open to the public.

While the Demo & Tasting finishes on Saturday competitors in the KCBS sanctioned BBQ & Ribeye competition, serving as the Texas State Championship, will turn in their entries and judging will take place until 3 P.M. At 4 P.M. the public will be invited to join in the awards for the competition which includes categories in chicken, brisket, pork, ribs and steak.
