Competitive cooking, specifically barbecue cook offs, have now spread to the high school level across Texas.

Saturday, March 30, in Lubbock, a regional for the Texas High School BBQ Cookers Association will be held at Texas Tech University. The event is being hosted by the Lubbock Restaurant Association, Texas Tech Department of Meat Science and Raider Red Meats.

Saturday's cook off will be from Noon-5pm at the Texas Tech University Department of Meat Science 1248 Indiana Avenue. All of the participating teams are members of the Texas High School BBQ Cookers Association.

Also, a film crew from the Food Network will be at the cook off filming for an upcoming program about high school cook off teams.

The winners from Saturday's Lubbock Regional will advance to the State Competition to be held May 4 and 5 at Burnet High School in Burnet, Texas.
