Each year in December, thousands of families from the Lubbock area converge on a transformed Mackenzie Park for Santa Land.

The line for children to visit with Santa Claus Thursday night (Dec. 18) snaked around the park. However, hundreds of children had no problem waiting for more than an hour to sit on Santa's lap for a picture.

Throughout the winter wonderland were also areas full of painted displays of popular cartoon characters, including the minions from "Despicable Me," the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Elsa and Anna from the mega-hit "Frozen."
