San Angelo Man Receives 27 Years for Methamphetamine Possession
A San Angelo man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison on a charge of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Steve Zuniga, 48, was found with 646 grams of meth after being pulled over in March 2014. A San Angelo police officer conducted a traffic stop on a pickup-truck Zuniga was a passenger in. Zuniga was subsequently arrested on an outstanding warrant.
While searching Zuniga, the officer found 29 grams of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine and then discovered 738 additional grams of the substance in the vehicle along with a semi-automatic pistol.
A forensic investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab determined Zuniga had 646 net grams of meth.
