The Salvation Army of Lubbock is preparing to serve Christmas dinner to many in need.

More than 150 volunteers are expected to help prepare and serve the meal to an estimated 500 people. The food served will be a traditional Christmas turkey dinner with an extra dessert to go.

The dinner will be served on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Salvation Army Family Housing Facility and Emergency Shelter, located at Avenue J and 17th Street.

Food boxes are also supplied to some in need during the Christmas holiday. This year, over 2,100 families will receive the Christmas food packages.

Last year, 656 Christmas meals were served by the Salvation Army.
