Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show District 67 Representative Jeff Leach joined Chad in the office of Representative John Frullo to discuss the 86th Texas legislative session to date, and to provide a status report on important issues.

Leach and Hasty talked about several items, including property tax reform and education funding, as well as abortion and more.

Speaking about lawmakers' goal on property tax reform, Leach said,

We've got to make sure that our school finance, House Bill 3, and our tax [reform] package are working hand in hand. The last thing I want to do is for us just to get a very temporary relief for our taxpayers. To go home and celebrate a big win, and then in two years our taxpayers are saying, 'Well what happened to our relief?" None of us want that. We've got to make sure that we put forth the right proposals in the House and Senate to make sure that does not happen.

Leach also talked about the Born Alive Protection Act (HB-16) and it's urgency this session, as well as the possibility of abortions possibly being completely banned in the state of Texas. Leach said,

This is a direct response to the callous disregard for human life that we've seen in states like Virginia and New York, that we're seeing from the Democrats in Washington...Let's make no mistake. We are talking about babies who are born. They are alive. They're breathing, they're crying. They're longing for someone to care for them...Texas is going to be very clear. We're going to pass this bill and get it to the Governor's desk very soon.
