Former editor of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Randy Sanders, is expected to announce his candidacy for the Lubbock City Council, District 6 seat tomorrow at 10 am.

The official announcement comes after long time seat holder Jim Gilbreath announced his retirement last year. Lubbock voters will choose his replacement in the May 12th election.

Sanders has over 35 years reporting experience, something he says helped him learn the local government inside and out. He is the former president of Freedom on Information Foundation of Texas and has held membership with several local organizations including the Guadalupe Parkway Sommerville Neighborhood Association, the Lubbock Area Foundation, United Way, Women's Protective Services and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. His formal announcment is scheduled for 10:00 in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
