The Laws and Regulations of Having Chickens Inside City Limits in Lubbock
If you live outside the city limits like I do, you can basically sit back and rejoice because there are really very few rules that you have to abide by. There might be some HOA rules if you live in that type of neighborhood outside the city, but for most country folk, you just have to worry about keeping the chickens alive.
For those who live in the city limits, you have rules. If you live in a different city and you are reading this, your city probably has similar rules. Contact your city hall to get all the details and rules for raising chickens.
The rules in Lubbock are pretty simple. You can have up to six hens. You are not allowed to have a rooster. No one wants to be woken up by a rooster inside the city limits.
What About Chicken Coops in Lubbock?
Yes, you can have one. But it better be under 200 square feet and set back 5 feet from the side or rear of the property.
Oh and your chickens have to stay in the enclosure so they aren't running around the neighborhood.
