Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. Will the Republicans compromise? (link)

The President has raised the stakes on the debt negotiations and believes it's time for the GOP to compromise. The Democrats of course have no intention of compromising so they are laying it at the feet of the Republicans. According to the AP:

"I don't see a path to a deal if they don't budge. Period," the president said in a challenge to his political opponents, accusing Republicans of having a "my way or the highway" posture on taxes.

Why is Obama so dead-set on raising taxes? I'm sorry, raising revenue. Speaker John Boehner is sticking to his guns by saying that raising taxes is a nonstarter. Who do you think will blink first? The GOP or the Dems?

2. Recent grads can't find work (link)

College students loved Barack Obama when he was running for President. They filled arenas and held voter registration drives on campus. Many college kids felt as though Obama would bring peace and prosperity to their lives.

Then, reality set in.  According to the Labor Department, 1 in 5 recent grads can't find work. Here are some other numbers:

More than 17 percent of 16-to-24-year-olds who are looking for work can’t find a job, a rate that is close to a 30-year high. The employment-to-population ratio for that demographic—the percentage of young people who are working—has plunged to 45 percent. That’s the lowest level since the Labor Department began tracking the data in 1948. Taken together, the numbers suggest that the U.S. job market is struggling mightily to bring its next generation of workers into the fold.

Change indeed.

3. Dating dress code (link)

Match.com has released a new survey of single people that tackles the way people dress. I will say this about the survey, I agree that women should stop wearing those over-sized sunglasses. They look dumb. According to Match:

Eighty-one percent of the men like women to wear white pants on a date, but 92 percent of men prefer them to wear short skirts. Twelve percent of men say midriff-baring shirts should stay in the closet and 63 percent of the men say they like braided hair on their date, but 56 percent of men really don't care for the big sunglasses look.

Sixty-eight percent of women say it's never appropriate for a date to show up wearing skinny jeans, 80 percent of women say a guy should never walk around shirtless, even if he has rock-solid abs and 93 percent say they prefer a man wear a polo shirt and khakis on a date.

Fifty-three percent of the men said it's not acceptable for a woman to wear a thong swimsuit for a beach or pool date, while 91 percent of women said they're not ready to see their date sport a Speedo at the beach or pool.

Okay, I also agree that no guy should wear a Speedo. Some women can get away with thongs, but that might be something we discuss on Saturday's show.
